Areas of Activity and Professional Career
Philipp Bremer recently led the Rule of Law Programme Middle East & North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V., based in Beirut, from 2021 to 2025. In this capacity, he was responsible for rule of law projects from Morocco through the Gulf to Iraq. He thus brings legal experience from across the Arab world into his legal practice. He began his career as a commercial lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Düsseldorf, where he worked for 3 1/2 years in dispute resolution. During that time, he spent 6 months as a secondee in the PR Litigation department of Volkswagen AG.
His work combines legal analysis with political and economic understanding. He handles all matters of commercial law and focuses on the Middle East and Gulf region. His practice also includes the strategic support of sensitive mandates requiring high levels of communication and coordination, serving as an interface between law, the public, and political actors.
His advisory work is regularly conducted in close cooperation with colleagues at various locations as well as with local partners and institutions on the ground.

Education
Philipp Bremer grew up in an international environment and lived in the Middle East throughout his childhood.
From 2008 to 2014, Philipp Bremer studied law at the University of Mannheim. In parallel, he studied political science and public administration for two years at the FernUni Hagen. Alongside his studies, he worked for Prof. Jochen Taupitz at the Chair for Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Private International Law and Comparative Law. In 2014, he completed his law studies with the First State Examination in Law.
From 2014 to 2016, he completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe, finishing in 2016 with the Second State Examination in Law.
